Yes, absolutely. Give your brain a break! Colouring-in is widely acknowledged as having a calming effect on the brain similar to the results of meditation. As we focus on colouring our anxiety levels can drop and distractions can slip away. As Christians we can also use this process to help us connect with God. There are thousands of patterns available on the internet to download (just google image search “mandala”) and most bookshops have a range of books available for purchase as well. All you really need is a pattern and something to colour with. However, you might like to trial these approaches as well.

  • Add headphones and a worship album
  • Add headphones and Scripture (try the Psalms)
  • Add a word or phrase to your picture to reflect on as you colour
